Sons of the Pioneers are truly the "icons of Western Music," having singularly built a new genre and library of music that is an American original. Western Musi c evokes the image of the singing cowboy and of songs that paint vivid mental pictures of "Tumbling Tumbleweeds," "Cool Water," "Tall Timber" and that "Strawberry Roan." From the earliest days of the film industry the cowboy has been a favorite movie subject. When musical segments were added to broaden a movie’s interest the “singing cowboy” was born. The Sons of the Pioneers was founded in 1934 with Bob Nolan, Tim Spencer, and Roy Rogers. Today's six man group is a blend of heritage and new blood. Forty-year member and “trail boss” Luther Nallie along with thirty-year member Gary LeMaster anchor the group. The four younger members have their own impressive credentials. Ricky Boen is the 1983 World Champion fiddle player. Ken Lattimore holds a college degree in music. Before joining the group Mark Abbot was a very sought after studio musician, and Randy Rudd was a top vocalist in Las Vegas and Branson venues. In addition to a full season in their Branson theater, they performed this past off season to sell out crowds in cowboy country. New fans are attracted by the current members' musical ability, by their songs which haunt you long after the concert, and by the mystique of the great American West. Steven attributes his success to God and the loving support of his parents Ricky and Kathy Whitson. If it weren’t for the following of his fans who call themselves the “Believers”, and their “Believin’ in Steven”, this dream wouldn’t be a reality. Steven’s advice for anyone with a dream to be a performer or anything for that matter is to always believe in yourself and never give up. Ray & Wanelle, each talented in their own rite, perform solo and, also, as a duet. In their duets, they bring a harmonious blend of voices that makes one think they have performed together for years rather than just a short while. Wanelle, an only child, and Ray, the seventh child in a family of 12 children, first performed together in a grammar school talent contest at Salem, a little country school near Cochran, GA, when Wanelle accompanied Ray on the piano as he sung Elvis' hit, "When My Blue Moon Turns to Gold Again."  As fate would have it, they won First Place. During their high school days, they drifted apart, and the two didn't perform together again until September, 2002, when they unexpectedly met on stage at the Powersville Opry in Powersville, Georgia, after Doug Welch, the leader of the Klassic Kountry band, which Ray performed in, invited Wanelle up from the audience to sing a few impromptu songs with them. Since that night, Ray and Wanelle have been a team, and they are now in demand as a twosome, entertaining audiences worldwide.

Ray's and Wanelle's winning personalities and talent draw people to them wherever they go. They are always ready to sing a request from their audiences. They have now achieved international fame as their music has been charted in the UK. Their music is played in the USA, Australia, Denmark, Sweden, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, and Ireland.  Sweden's record company, MR.
