Are you in the mood for some good ole Southern cooking? Then you have to try this southern home-fried potatoes and sausage recipe! As Steve would say, “Is this the BEST Southern Home Fried Potatoes and Sausage Recipe? If it ain’t …it ought to be!”

Are you in the mood for some good ole Southern cooking? Then you gotta try this southern home fried potatoes and sausage recipe! As Steve would say, “Is this the BEST Southern Home Fried Potatoes and Sausage Recipe? If it ain’t …it ought to be!”

To make fried potatoes you need:

  • 1 Smoked Sausage link (sliced)
  • 5 – 6 Tbs Olive Oil (or Bacon Grease)
  • 1 Medium Chopped Onion
  • 1 Can Green Beans (drained)
  • 5 Large Potatoes (peeled and sliced)
  • 1 Tbsp. Fresh, or Minced Garlic
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 1 Tsp Pepper
  • ½ Tsp. Red Pepper flakes
  • Garnish with chives

How to make Fried Potatoes and Sausage:

Peel and slice 5 large potatoes. (slice potatoes in half then slice about a 1/4 inch thick). Put your potatoes in a bowl and coat them with 2 Tbsp of olive oil. Then slice your sausage link about the same width and set it aside in a separate dish.

In a skillet on Medium heat, add 2 Tbsp of olive oil. Brown up one side of your sliced sausage. Once you flip them to brown the other side, add in 1 cup of chopped onion. When the onion is translucent and the sausage is browned on both sides, remove it from the pan and set aside.

In that same pan add in 1 can of drained green beans. Then add in 1 Tbsp, of minced garlic. Once cooked (The canned green beans are already cooked so this won’t take long), place green beans aside with your sausage and onions.

Then add 2 Tbs olive oil and add your sliced potatoes. Fry the potatoes until both sides are golden brown and fork-tender.

Season the potatoes with salt, pepper, and red pepper. Add in your Sausage, onion and green beans and let it cook for a couple more minutes. Garnish with chives…and it’s done!
