How to make Grandma's Homemade Pancake Recipe from Scratch

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ Cups All-Purpose Flour 
  • 2  Tbsp. Sugar 
  • 2  Tsp. Baking Powder 
  • ½ Tsp. Baking Soda 
  • ½ Tsp. Salt
  • 2   Eggs  
  • 2   Tbsp. Canola Oil (for pancake batter)
  • 2   Tbsp. Butter (melted) 
  • 1   Tsp. Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1 ½  Cups Whole Milk
  • Canola Oil (use to lightly grease the griddle)
  • Serve with softened Butter, Pure Maple Syrup and Powdered Sugar

Step By Step Instructions to make Grandma's Homemade Pancake recipe:

Step 1

to make pancakes, in a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. 

Is baking soda or powder better for fluffy pancakes? Grandma used both in her recipe. 

 

Then add the eggs, canola oil, slightly cooled melted butter, pure vanilla extract, and whole milk.  Blend all ingredients with an electric hand mixer for about 1 minute (batter will be smooth and not too thick (a few lumps are okay….so don’t overmix it).

Step 2

Pour a little canola oil on the griddle and preheat the griddle on medium heat.  Pour a small amount of the batter on the hot griddle and use a spoon to spread batter into pancake size rounds.

Step 3

Cook your pancakes until you get bubbles around the edges and a few bubbles starting in the middle, check to see if browned then flip them over with a spatula and spread some butter on top of the pancake to melt while the underside cooks until browned.

Step 4

Sprinkle some powdered sugar on and top with 100% Pure Maple Syrup and Enjoy Grandmas light and fluffy pancakes!

Ingredients

1 1/2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
