Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Premade Refrigerated Pie Crust
  • 7 Granny Smith Apples
  • 1 Tsp. Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 Stick Butter
  • 3 Tbsp. All-Purpose Flour
  • 4 Tbsp. Water
  • 1 Cup Granulated Sugar

Crumb Topping:

  • 1 Cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 Cup Packed Brown Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 Tsp. Cinnamon
  • 1/2 Tsp. Salt
  • 1 Stick Butter (room temperature)
  • 3/4 Cup Pecans (chopped)

Toppings:

  • Caramel (topping / syrup)
  • Powder Sugar Glaze (powdered sugar and milk to desired consistency)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350˚ Degrees.
  2. Peel, core, and slice apples and place them in a bowl.  Stir in 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.
  3. Roll out the room temperature premade pie crust into a 9” pie pan. Press dough into the bottom and sides of the pan and flute the edges.
  4. In a small skillet on medium heat, melt one stick of butter. Whisk in 3 tablespoon of flour and continue to whisk for 1 minute. Stir in 4 tablespoons of water, and 1 cup of granulated sugar and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium-low, continue to whisk, and let it simmer for 3 minutes. Then remove from heat.
  5. Place the apples into the pie crust and pour the sauce mixture evenly over the apple slices.
  6. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together 1 cup of flour, ½ cup brown sugar, 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, ½ teaspoon cinnamon, and ½ teaspoon salt. Add 1 stick of room temperature butter and with your hands mix it together until it forms into pea-size crumbs. Stir in the pecans and then sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over your apples.
  7. Place a sheet of foil on the bottom rack of your oven to catch any drips from the pie. Then place the pie on the middle rack, and bake it for 45 minutes, then reduce temperature to 325 degrees and bake for another 10 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apple mixture is bubbling. Remove it from the oven and let it cool for at least 1 hour, drizzle caramel and powder sugar glaze over the top and serve.
  8. Serve with a scoop (or two ) of vanilla ice cream and enjoy!
