Red Rice and Sausage

If you have been down south to Georgia, then you may have had this delicious red rice. This easy red rice and sausage recipe is perfect for a quick and easy meal. It’s easy to make and it tastes incredible!

Ingredients

  • 5 Strips Bacon (diced)
  • 1 cup White Onions (diced)
  • 1 cup Celery (diced)
  • 1 cup Green Bell Pepper (diced)
  • 2 cups White Long Grain Rice
  • 4 1/4 cups Water
  • 1 Tsp. Salt (divided)
  • 2 15oz. Cans Tomato Sauce
  • 1 15oz. Can Diced Tomatoes
  • 1 Tbsp. Black Pepper
  • 13.5 oz. Package Andouille Sausage

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a skillet on medium heat, cook bacon. Cook the bacon until it is soft, and do not drain the grease.
  3. Then add the bacon mixture with cooked vegetables. Season with ½ tsp. salt and 1 tbsp. of black pepper and mix well.
  4. In a small Dutch oven on medium heat, add the white rice with the water and a ½ tsp. of salt. Cook the rice according to package instructions. Then once the rice is cooked, stir in the tomato sauce and diced tomatoes. 
  5. Slice up the Andouille sausage into ¼ inch pieces and fold it into the rice mixture, reserving a few slices for the top.
  6. Bake uncovered in the oven for 45 minutes, serve and enjoy!

Notes

You can make this with shrimp, chicken, or any meat you like!
