Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Lb. Ground Beef (80/20)
  • 1 Tsp. Salt
  • 1 Tsp. Pepper
  • 1 Tsp. Garlic Powder
  • 1 Tsp. Onion Powder
  • 2 Slices Cheddar Cheese
  • 2 Tostada Shells or Corn Tortillas
  • 1/2 Cup Refried Beans
  • 1/2 Cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 2 Large Hamburger Buns
  • 4 Tbsp. Butter (softened)
  • Pico de Gallo

Instructions

  1. Divide the ground beef into 2 portions (½ lb. each) and shape into hamburger patties.  Then place the patties in between 2 sheets of parchment paper and press down until they are about 1 inch thick.  In a small bowl, mix together the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder and sprinkle on both sides of each patty.
  2. In a cast iron skillet or griddle on medium heat, cook the patties until they are nicely seared and dark, golden brown on both sides.  Then place a slice of cheese on top of each patty and cover to melt the cheese.  Transfer the patties to a plate and set aside.
  3. Split open each hamburger bun and spread butter on the inside.  Then place each half face down in the same cast iron skillet or griddle on medium heat and toast until golden brown.  Then place them on a plate and set aside.
  4. Preheat oven broiler.  Lay the tostada shells (or corn tortillas for a softer tostada) on a nonstick baking sheet.  Spread with refried beans and sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.  Then broil for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
  5. Put the tostada on the bottom half of each bun and spoon some of the pico de gallo on top.  Then top each with a cheddar cheeseburger, and then the top of the hamburger bun.
  6. Serve these incredibly delicious burgers with tortilla chips and pico de gallo and enjoy.
