  • 8 Tbsp. Salted Butter (melted, divided)
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 Tsp. Liquid Smoke
  • 1 Tsp. Salt
  • 1/2 Tsp. Black Pepper
  • 1 Tsp. Garlic Powder
  • 1 Tsp. Onion Powder
  • 1 Sweet Onion (sliced into rings)
  • Bread and Butter Pickles
  • 12 Slider Buns

Alabama White Sauce Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups Mayonnaise
  • 1 cup White Vinegar
  • 1/2 cup Apple Juice
  • 1 Tsp. Salt
  • 2 Tsp. Black Pepper
  • 1/2 Tsp. Cayenne Pepper
  • 2 Tsp. Lemon Juice
  • 2 Tsp. Horseradish
  • 1/4 cup Sugar

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken into the slow cooker.
  2. Add 1/4 cup water, granulated chicken bouillon, 4 tbsp. of butter, Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke. Sprinkle the salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder onto the chicken.
  3. Cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 5-6 hours until the chicken is cooked, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees. About 1 hour before the chicken is done, lay the onion rings on top of the chicken in the crockpot.
  4. In a small bowl, add the Alabama White Sauce ingredients listed above. Whisk them together until the sauce is smooth. Cover and place in the fridge to thicken and chill.
  5. When the chicken is cooked, remove the onion slices, and set them aside. Let the chicken cool for about 10 to 15 minutes, then take two forks and shred the chicken. Place the shredded chicken into a bowl. Then add about 3- 4 tablespoons of the drippings from the Crockpot back onto the shredded chicken to keep it moist.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  7. Remove the rolls from the package. Place them on a baking sheet, then spread about 3 to 4 tablespoons of butter and then sprinkle a little garlic salt on both the tops and bottoms. Place them in the broiler face up for about 3-4 minutes until they get brown and crispy on the edges.
  8. Then, place the bottom halves in a 9 x 13 pre-greased baking dish.  Place 2-3 pickles onto the bottom buns, then add the shredded chicken. Place the softened onion rings and generously spoon the Alabama White Sauce over the top of the chicken. Put the top half of the bun on and bake them uncovered in the oven for about 10 minutes.
  9. About 1 to 2 minutes before they are done, lightly brush them with melted butter. Place them into the oven uncovered for about 2-3 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
