Start by slicing a sweet onion into rings and clean the Portobello mushrooms using a damp paper towel (do not rinse in water because the mushroom will become soggy).

What goes good with portobello burgers?

The swiss cheese cheese really compliments the burger, but you can use any kind of cheese you prefer. Place slices of cheese on each patty and top with onion slices. Stack two patties together and top each with a mushroom and one more slice of cheese.

Butter the inside of the buns and toast them on a griddle until golden brown.

Spread the bottom and top of buns with special sauce.
