Baked Cabbage Steaks

This is one of Steve’s most popular recipes on Cooking with Shotgun Red. You and your family will love these homemade baked Cabbage Steaks! This recipes has three types of cheese. They tender and full of flavor and a great way to get those veggies in!

What you need to make these easy baked Cabbage Steaks:

2  Small Heads of Cabbage

1  8oz. Pkg Shredded Parmesan Cheese 

1  8oz. Pkg Shredded Mexican Blend Cheese

Nonstick Olive Oil Cooking Spray

Sauce:

1  Stick Salted Butter (melted)

1  Tbsp. Olive Oil

1  Tbsp. Garlic Paste

1  Tsp. Black Pepper

1 Tsp. Smoked Paprika

How to make Cabbage Steaks

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Rinse and dry both heads of cabbage.  Then peel off the loose green outer leaves. 

Cut the bottom off of each cabbage head so they will sit level on the cutting board, but do not remove the core.  Then cut off the 2 rounded sides on each cabbage head to square them up. 

Slice each cabbage head into 1 inch steaks (about 4 cabbage steaks per head).  

 

Then, place them on a flat baking sheet lined with aluminum foil and sprayed with nonstick olive oil cooking spray. 

 

 

In a bowl, add the sauce ingredients and mix together well.  Then, brush the sauce on top of each cabbage steak. 

 

Bake uncovered in the oven for 30 minutes.  Then sprinkle 4 of the steaks with parmesan cheese and the other 4 steaks with Mexican blend cheese. 

 

Bake for another 10 to 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the edges are golden brown.
